So as you all know, I wanted to download and install .NET framework 3.0, I have Microsoft SQL server express installed, and I went to remove a past version of indigo so that I could install .NET 3, so I downloaded the Microsoft past WinFX component installation tool, ran that and then when of and made a drink. When I came back, and needed to access my database, I realised that I could not access my server. I looked in the task list and the server core process wasn’t running, I looked in the server data folder and the database files were there, the file types (.mdf and .ndf) were not recognised as being a SQL server file.

So whats the moral of the story kids? read the read-me before doing stuff

(oh and don’t worry, all that was needed was to reinstall SQL server and reattach the files)
